About Cloudpoint

Run it once and it scans for saves, then press A to upload them. Take your user key to another console, or back to this one after a format, and the saves come back down. Virtual Console saves work too, GBA included. Sync everything at once or one game at a time, and leave any game out of auto sync if you want.

There's a free public server, or you can host your own with the author's Docker image.

To add a second console, go to the Link screen with R on both. Press X on the first to share the key and Y on the second to receive it, over local wireless. After that each console talks to the server by itself, so they don't need to be online together. Expect to sort out conflicts the first time a game syncs on a new console.

Back up /3ds/Cloudpoint/user.key. Lose the console or SD card without it and your saves can't be recovered. The author also asks you to keep your own save backups, use the same version of a game on every console, and take care when reinstalling games or formatting. If a game doesn't show up, start it once so it makes a save, then press X to refresh.

Release notes

v0.9.0 · Oct 28, 2026

The big changes in 0.9.0 are a new banner and cleaner logo, plus app self update and faster local backups when downloading a new version of a save - on something big like Terarria this is about 4x faster.

If you self host you will need to bump your server to 1.2.0 to start seeing app self updates.

App self updates can be disabled if you self host, but the public instance will always offer them and nudge you to use them. They can usually be postponed, but you will be asked to install each time you run Cloudpoint. Supporting old versions of a client is hard, hence this nudge. Please understand. There really isn't any reason not use the latest version of the app, anyway.
