Cloudpoint changelog

v0.9.0 · Oct 28, 2026

The big changes in 0.9.0 are a new banner and cleaner logo, plus app self update and faster local backups when downloading a new version of a save - on something big like Terarria this is about 4x faster.

If you self host you will need to bump your server to 1.2.0 to start seeing app self updates.

App self updates can be disabled if you self host, but the public instance will always offer them and nudge you to use them. They can usually be postponed, but you will be asked to install each time you run Cloudpoint. Supporting old versions of a client is hard, hence this nudge. Please understand. There really isn't any reason not use the latest version of the app, anyway.

v0.8.0 · Oct 2, 2026

It was a bit of a slog, but we now have GBA Virtual Console (including VC inject) support. This is one step closer to all the features I want to get in place for a 1.0.0 release. Games like Metroid Fusion and Minish Cap will now just show up and work like any other title.

I've tested the feature quite a bit and it all works well for me, including VC injects, but I'm especially keen to hear from people running things like romhacks - please raise an issue if something doesn't work as intended. As always, please keep backups.

This would not have been possible without the amazing work done over on Checkpoint to add support for this recently. The implementation here is, naturally, quite different, but the core idea is the same.

As well as this, titles which it makes no sense to sync will now be silently skipped; they won't show up anywhere in Cloudpoint. This is maintained in a manual list of titles; if you have any to suggest please get in touch.

There are also quite a few bugfixes and performance improvements - UI is much more efficient, network calls will be a little snappier, and refreshing title/saves is much quicker, plus the code driving it is no longer a mess, which is nice.

v0.7.0 · Aug 9, 2026

Some nice UI polish and various bugfixes collected over the last few weeks.

As always, it is best to run a full Auto Sync before updating and again after. This just makes the need to resolve conflicts (caused by some internal changes to DB formats) less likely - if a sync is a "no op" Cloudpoint can usually just do whatever internal stuff it needs to without asking you.

Small maintenance release to improve reliability of uploads (very rare issue but worth fixing), and make initial "connecting" phase snappier and more reliable. Also introduces two commands for server cleanup. Not really needed for self hosting tbh, but needed for a public instance.

What's Changed

I'm now fairly happy with the safety of the codebase, and the quality of the UI. I'll likely focus on some backend stuff for while, so I hope this is the last client release until I push out a 1.0.0 sometime in a few weeks.

What's Changed

It is recommended to run a full sync before installing updates. Doing this minimises the chance of false positive sync conflicts. If you do get conflicts, resolve manually.

What's Changed

Initial public release:

  • Title discovery and auto sync of all discovered titles
  • Conflict resolution on demand
  • Per title manual sync auto sync enable/disable toggle
  • Backup of local data on downloading saves
  • Sharing user key between two consoles via UDS

CAVEAT EMPTOR. It is early days for Cloudpoint. I use it, and I have no issues, but bugs happen and you must ensure that important saves are backed up independently of Cloudpoint. If you hose a save, I probably won't be able to help you.
