3DS Cartridge Fixer Tool changelog
v2.00 · Oct 6, 2026
Please do not link these releases directly! Link the latest release page so that people aren't directed to outdated versions!
- Major rework, as described in this PR.
Due to the nature of the issue being combatted, we have to rely on external testing (since we don't have more broken cartridges ourselves). If you encounter issues (crashes, UX issues) with this version, try to use the last known good version (1.92) and report the issue in the GBAtemp thread
v1.92 · Sep 14, 2026
- Fix erroneous display at the end of fixing run
v1.91 · Sep 11, 2026
- Improve mode button detection
- Add a lua script courtesy of <a href="https://gbatemp.net/threads/corrupted-cartridge-fixer-release.628539/post-10904070">voltar324</a>
Run the lua script after a successful fix to help the cartridge stay fixed.
The script should be placed in /gm9/luascripts
Run it by pressing HOME on the main GodMode9 screen, and selecting lua scripts.
v1.9 · Aug 31, 2026
Brings in changes made in pull request:
https://github.com/skawo/GodMode9-with-Cartridge-Fixer/pull/1
- Add the missing size_exthdr guard before reading exthdr.name in the thorough ExeFS check (invalid read when the NCCH has no ext header).
- Accumulate the ExeFS result with |= so earlier failures aren't lost.
- Move log allocation/report writing up to AttemptFixNcsdFile: allocate once and always write the report, even when a fix fails.
- Return the real per-content result instead of always success.
v1.8 · Aug 30, 2026
- Increase default number of hash stuck retries to 50.
- Hopefully fix a display bug where expected and current hashes would look like they match when they don't?
v1.7 · Aug 27, 2026
Adjust the method by which chunks are automatically skipped; if a chunk ever registers as good or gets unstuck, the fixer will retry more times before declaring it unfixable.
Known bugs: N3DS games (e.g Xenoblade 3D) do not verify properly.
v1.6 · Aug 13, 2026
- Print current content number
- Fix bad chunk counter
Known bugs: N3DS games (e.g Xenoblade 3D) do not verify properly. Use regular Godmode9 to check their operation.
v1.5a · May 25, 2026
- Prints the number of unfixable chunks to screen, so the user doesn't need to check the logs to verify progress
- Now based on newest GodMode9 version (thanks themmj!)
The 100 refreshes version has never been reported to actually make any difference, so it has been retired.
Known bugs: N3DS games (e.g Xenoblade 3D) do not verify properly. Use regular Godmode9 to check their operation.
v1.4 · Jul 3, 2025
If X is held when the fix option is selected, blocks that fail to fix themselves after 500 refreshes will be skipped.
v1.3 · Nov 27, 2024
Increased CTRCARD clock from 4.18 to 13.4 MHz on ROM reads as per GodMode9 commit 105f4ae.
v1.2 · Mar 21, 2023
The tool will now only skip a block automatically if the hash gets stuck on the same wrong value 20 times consecutively.
Please run the regular version first.
If that doesn't work, try the 100 Refreshes version, which will run the refresh command 100 times per read - might be more effective at restoring ExeFS and larger files in general.
v1.1 · Mar 16, 2023
Will detect if block hash gets stuck on a wrong value, and skip that block automatically if it's still stuck for 20 refresh attempts.
Allows user to skip past a block after 500 refresh attempts by pressing Y.
v1.0 · Mar 15, 2023
The beginning.
