Not an emulator. A native port of MKW-3DS, the 1:1 3DS recreation of Mario Kart Wii (not of the Wii game itself), running on the Vita's own APIs with vitaGL.

# MKW Vita 1.4.2
Closer to the Wii: laps and Lakitu, the end of a race, course objects, item boxes and menus. Only the VPK changes: your 1.4.0 game files keep working.
>[!NOTE]
>**Coming from 1.4.x? Just install the new VPK.** 1.4.2 uses the same game files, so there's nothing to rebuild or copy.
>
>Coming from 1.3.0 or older? Rebuild your game files as described in the [1.4.0 release](https://github.com/boomannotjeff/mkwiita/releases/tag/1.4.0).
## What's new
### Racing
- **Lap counter and Lakitu.** Backing over the finish line no longer lowers your lap or brings Lakitu down with the lap sign.
- **Finish.** Lakitu flies in with the flag and follows your kart, like on the Wii.
- **End of race.** Racers who have finished lose their items. The out-of-bounds fade now draws under the HUD and results instead of over them.
- **Place number.** The black drop shadow behind your position is back.
- **Blue Shell.** It keeps facing forward instead of spinning like a Green Shell.
### Courses
- **Koopa Cape.** The tunnel glass draws over karts and items instead of under them. The same goes for every course's see-through parts.
- **Lava.** N64 Bowser's Castle lava columns and Grumble Volcano lava poles only show while erupting. Grumble Volcano's falling rocks vanish when they land.
- **Toad's Factory.** The falling crates show only while they're live, and they turn into iron boxes in Time Trials.
- **Cannons.** DK Summit, GCN DK Mountain and Maple Treeway cannons play their animation once per launch instead of looping.
- **Delfino Square.** The drawbridge animation follows how far the bridge is tilted.
- **SNES Ghost Valley 2.** The blocks rest, tumble and disappear like on the Wii.
- **Item boxes.** On Grumble Volcano, boxes on the falling rocks ride them down. On Wario's Gold Mine, the boxes along the cart line trail the carts.
### Menus
- **Main menu.** The frames no longer flash when selected (the Wii never selects them), and the titles have their glow back.
- **Drift page.** The flag no longer shows through the button movies, and the unselected movie is dimmed like on the Wii.
- **Sounds.** Pressing buttons during a page transition no longer plays button sounds.
- **Character on the kart.** Seated drivers blink and look ahead instead of staring at the camera.
Everything above is in the Retro Rewind edition too.
## Install
1. Install `mkw.vpk` (or `mkw-retro-rewind.vpk`), attached below, with VitaShell.
2. That's it if you're on 1.4.x. From an older release, rebuild your game files first (see the [1.4.0 release](https://github.com/boomannotjeff/mkwiita/releases/tag/1.4.0)).
3. Make sure `ur0:data/libshacccg.suprx` exists (run ShaRKF00D once).
Your licenses, times and ghosts stay.
The VPK contains no Nintendo game files. Please don't share your built game files.
## Building it yourself
- `Build MKW Vita.bat` builds the game files and the VPK (needs VitaSDK).
- `Build Game Files.bat` builds only the game files.
- See [BUILDING.md](BUILDING.md) for details.
