Medal of Honor: Allied Assault single-player on the PS Vita. You need your own copy of the game: no game data is included.

## What's new in v0.5

- **Much faster heavy scenes:** the Omaha beach battle, which dropped to about 18 FPS in v0.4, now runs close to 60 FPS on a Vita 1000 in our test. The characters' animation data goes to the GPU without the two copies per character the graphics library made, the game no longer makes the graphics library rebuild its vertex setup on every draw, and the scenery models (obstacles, sandbags) are prepared with much less work each frame.
- **Faster level loading:** animations, textures (JPEG) and scripts load with less work; the Omaha landing went from about 66 to about 40 seconds in the emulator.
- **Animation level of detail:** distant soldiers update their skeleton less often.
- **Render Resolution** (Vita settings > Graphics): 960x544 (default) or 720x408, which lightens the GPU.
- **Server thread fixes:** with the experimental Server thread option on, starting a level, the end of a sound and the end of the loading screen could run the game logic on two cores at once and crash (seen entering the first level).
- **Expansions:** Spearhead and Breakthrough's text in the five text languages; any button skips their intro screens.
- **Multiplayer (experimental):** the Vita can join games on the local network (Multiplayer > LAN, then Refresh) with Wi-Fi on; the expansions' menus also have the internet server list. There is no on-screen keyboard yet, so typing an address or a name is not possible.
- `boot.log` now keeps its last lines when the game closes because of an error, which makes problem reports more useful.

**Updating from v0.3 or v0.4:** the game finds this version by itself when it starts (with Check for updates on, Vita settings > System) and installs it, with your settings and saves kept. From v0.2 or older: install the new `.vpk` over the old one with VitaShell.

## Install

**Required first:** `libshacccg.suprx` (the Vita's shader compiler, needed by most Vita ports). If `ur0:data/libshacccg.suprx` does not exist, install and run [ShaRKF00D](https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/ShaRKF00D) once. Without it the menu shows only white outlines.

1. On the Vita, open **VitaShell** and press **SELECT** to start the FTP server.
2. From a computer, connect to the address it shows (for example with FileZilla, port `1337`) and copy `OpenMoHAA.vpk` to `ux0:/`.
3. In VitaShell, press **Cross** on `OpenMoHAA.vpk` and choose **Install**.
4. Copy the game files in the table below to `ux0:data/openmohaa/main/`.
5. Start it from the LiveArea.

Game files: from the `main` folder of your game **installed on a PC** (GOG, the only store that sells it, or the discs installed with the 1.11 patch):

| File | Needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `Pak0.pk3` | yes | |
| `Pak1.pk3` | yes | |
| `Pak2.pk3` | yes | |
| `Pak3.pk3` | yes | |
| `Pak4.pk3` | yes | from the 1.11 patch |
| `Pak5.pk3` | yes | from the 1.11 patch |
| `Pak6EnUk.pk3`, `pak7.pk3` | yes, if you have them | GOG only |
| `sound` folder | recommended | the whole folder, as it is |
| `video` folder | optional | intro videos |
| `mainta`, `maintt` | optional | the expansions: copy each whole folder to `ux0:data/openmohaa/`, next to `main` |
| `configs`, `.cfg`, `.exe` | no | |

Each `.pk3` must end up the same size as on your PC.

Full guide (USB, optional files, updating): [docs/PORTING-VITA.md](https://github.com/HenryKun55/openmohaa/blob/vita-port/docs/PORTING-VITA.md#install-on-the-vita)

### Language packs (optional)

To have the menu pictures in your language (Allied Assault's and the expansions'), copy that language's pack to `ux0:data/openmohaa/main/`, next to the game's `.pk3` files, and choose the language in the Vita settings. The packs are the same as in v0.4.

| File | Language |
|---|---|
| `lang_pt.pk3` | Português |
| `lang_es.pk3` | Español |
| `lang_fr.pk3` | Français |
| `lang_de.pk3` | Deutsch |
| `lang_it.pk3` | Italiano |

Several packs can be installed together: only the chosen language's is used. Without a pack the text is still translated and the pictures stay in English. You can also build the packs from your own game files with [misc/vita/make_menu_text.py](https://github.com/HenryKun55/openmohaa/blob/vita-port/docs/TRANSLATING.md#menu-pictures).

## In this version

- The Allied Assault campaign, level transitions and saves.
- The Spearhead and Breakthrough campaigns (with their game folders).
- Vita settings menu (tap Select twice): graphics presets and detail, render resolution, HUD, crosshair, look sensitivity, subtitles and Text Language.
- Still in English: the briefing papers, the TOP SECRET label and the medals; the expansions' dialogue and objectives.
- Multiplayer: experimental, local network only in Allied Assault's menus, no on-screen keyboard.

## Before you play

- **Save often** from the game's menu (Start -> Save Game), especially before leaving the game or putting the Vita to sleep.
- Not tested yet: the PS button and coming back, sleep with the power button, closing and reopening the game, the whole campaign, Vita 2000 and PS TV.
- Something went wrong? See **[how to report a problem](https://github.com/HenryKun55/openmohaa/issues/2)** and attach `ux0:data/openmohaa/main/boot.log`, copied right after the problem.

## Files

- `OpenMoHAA.vpk`: the app.
- `lang_pt.pk3`, `lang_es.pk3`, `lang_fr.pk3`, `lang_de.pk3`, `lang_it.pk3`: menu picture language packs (optional, unchanged from v0.4).
- `openmohaa-vita-v0.5-source.zip`: the source code of this build (GPL v2).

3. No VitaShell, aperte **X** em cima do `OpenMoHAA.vpk` e escolha **Install**.

| Arquivo | Precisa? | Obs. |
|---|---|---|
| `Pak0.pk3` | sim | |
| `Pak1.pk3` | sim | |
| `Pak2.pk3` | sim | |
| `Pak3.pk3` | sim | |
| `Pak4.pk3` | sim | vem do patch 1.11 |
| `Pak5.pk3` | sim | vem do patch 1.11 |
