## MCSM 1.11 — public prerelease
> [!IMPORTANT]
> **This is a fix pass, not a confirmed-working pass.** Everything below was
> traced from code, disassembly, or a device `loader.log` and fixed on that
> basis — none of it has been confirmed by a full playthrough yet. In
> particular, this release does **not** claim choices or settings now save
> correctly; it describes the specific mechanisms that were found broken and
> what changed. If a problem persists, the logging build exists to find out
> why instead of guessing again.
>
> **The VPK on this release is a LOGGING build (`MCSM-1.11-logging.vpk`).**
> It writes a diagnostic log to `ux0:data/mcsm/loader.log` while you play,
> and it runs slower than a normal build because of it — please don't report
> its framerate as a performance bug. A non-logging build
> (`MCSM-1.11.vpk`) is also attached.
>
> ### How to send a log
>
> 1. Play until the problem happens.
> 2. Close the game. If it is frozen: press **PS**, then close it from the LiveArea.
> 3. **Do not launch the game again yet** — the log is wiped at the start of every
> launch, so relaunching destroys what you just captured.
> 4. Copy `ux0:data/mcsm/loader.log` off the Vita — open VitaShell, press **SELECT**
> to start its FTP server, and copy the file from a PC.
> 5. Attach it to a [bug report](../../issues/new?template=bug-report.yml) or post it
> in the [Discord](https://discord.gg/spjFgQUGmE). Zip it if it is large.
>
> To turn logging off without changing builds, create an empty
> `ux0:data/mcsm/settings/nolog.txt`.
> **Use Data Builder v1.9** (unchanged from 1.10 — same file, reused as-is).
This release contains the PS Vita loader with community LiveArea artwork and trophy support, the Windows data builder, and the corresponding source code. It does **not** contain the Android APK, OBBs, episodes, native game libraries, or gameplay archives.
Questions, test results, and bug reports are welcome in the [MCSM Vita Discord](https://discord.gg/spjFgQUGmE).
### Downloads
- **MCSM-1.11-logging.vpk** — complete Vita loader, **logging build** (see the box above); install with VitaShell.
- **MCSM-1.11.vpk** — the same loader without logging, for normal play once a problem is no longer being chased.
- **MCSM-Vita-Data-Builder-v1.9.exe** — unchanged from 1.10; builds `ux0:data/mcsm` or a chapter-only copy pack from your legally owned Android files.
### What changed in this pass
- **Preference load ran before its resource could exist.** `SavePrefs` was writing correctly the whole time; the load that reads it back now retries once the resource it needs is actually registered, instead of only trying once, too early, at boot.
- **Found and fixed a real bug in the shipped engine's event log**, not a porting artifact: on a missing anchor event, `DeleteAllEventsAfterEvent` underflows to a full-log wipe instead of doing nothing. `SaveLoad_Load` calls the vulnerable path on every load; it's now guarded against exactly that case.
- **The post-save mirror was guessing which copy the engine wrote, and guessed wrong** — from the second save onward it silently overwrote every save with the first one's contents. It now checks which copy actually changed instead of assuming.
- Save writes are now staged and size-verified before being committed by rename, and a one-generation backup restores a save that's provably too small to be intact.
- **Audio mixer was writing into a buffer the hardware was still playing**, audible as tearing in busy scenes with several NPCs on screen; it now rotates through buffers that were already allocated but unused.
- **The virtual controller could be dropped by the system around common dialogs** (trophy setup, the rename keyboard) and never came back, leaving only touch controls; it's now checked and re-added automatically.
- **The 30fps cap allowed a fast frame through right after a slow one**; presents are now floored against the actual previous present so the display can't exceed the configured cap.
- **An animation-timing repair forced a quarter-second jump on every scene load**, not just on the hitches it was meant to smooth; it now treats a load as a pause (nothing to catch up to) rather than lost time.
- The save-rename on-screen keyboard could show leftover characters from a previous rename on top of the new one; its input buffer is now cleared between uses.
- New LiveArea icon and content-screen artwork.
