VLC 3.0 ported to the PS5, with hardware decoding up to 4K HDR and a controller interface
Install on your PS5
App folder (.zip): unzip PPSA85300.zip and copy the PPSA85300 folder to /data/homebrew/ on the PS5, over FTP or from a USB drive. Some apps also need their title ID added to etaHEN's app list: the release notes say.

About VLC for PS5
Plays nearly everything VLC does, from H.264, HEVC and AV1 video to TrueHD and DTS-HD audio, in MKV, MP4, AVI and more. H.264 and HEVC are decoded in hardware up to 4K, 10-bit HDR included. HDR10 and HLG go to an HDR TV as HDR and are tone mapped on an SDR one. Smaller videos can be upscaled to 4K with FSR, Anime4K and others, off by default.
The library has Continue watching, favourites, search and playlists. Subtitles can be styled ASS/SSA or downloaded from OpenSubtitles with your own free API key, and audio goes out in 5.1 or 7.1. Network sources include SMB shares, DLNA servers, HTTP and HLS links, free TV channels and internet radio. There's a music mode, a photo viewer, and DVD and Blu-ray folder playback.
kstuff and ShadowMountPlus have to be running. Media goes on a USB drive or in /data/vlc/, or can be sent from a phone or PC to the page on port 8080. With etaHEN, OnionHEN or the developer's helper.elf, VLC can reach all of /data and any USB drive while it runs.

What's new
- Redesign by Juxtopposed, a whole new look next to Modern and Classic (Settings › Interface › Look):
- Dark and Light themes (Settings › Interface › Theme)
- Choose your look again: the first time v0.6 starts, you can pick Modern, Redesign by Juxtopposed or Classic (once)
- Equalizer bands: Preamp and 10 bands from 31 Hz to 16 kHz, −20 to +20 dB each. Pick a preset, then move any band: it becomes your own Custom sound, saved
- Volume on the player bar: move to the speaker,
- ↑ ↓ change it, ✕ mutes
- Controller vibration: when you switch tabs, change settings, change the volume,
- Turn it off in Settings › Interface › Controller vibration
