About RTChanger

Games compare the system clock with a hidden hardware clock, the Raw RTC, to catch you changing the time. RTChanger moves the Raw RTC itself, by as much as you want, so things like Poké Pelago and berry growing in Pokémon Sun and Moon no longer make you wait. Time gates kept on a server can't be skipped.

You need custom firmware with boot9strap. The CIA works with any CFW, Luma3DS preferred. The .3dsx needs Luma3DS: before every launch, open Rosalina (L+Down+Select), go to Process patches menu and pick Patch SM for service checks. The patch is gone after a reboot.

If you start the .3dsx through Rosalina's title takeover, take over Download Play and nothing else. The author says other titles crash, and bug reports about them get closed.
