About Nexus3DS

It's a boot.firm, so you need boot9strap. Its settings go in nexusconfig.ini, so they don't clash with a normal Luma3DS config.

The Rosalina menu gets a clock, a volume display and, on the New 3DS, the CPU clock and L2 status. You can set your Play Coin count and adjust brightness in finer steps. A Day/Night mode changes brightness and LEDs at a set time.

Plugins get a selector (hold Select while starting a game to bring it back after setting a default), v0.5.x 3GX loading, and a Plugin Watcher that asks before a plugin deletes files, connects to the network or uses the camera.

If your HOME button is broken, a key combo can stand in for it inside apps, and the Return to HOME Menu option can be shown or hidden. An instant reboot on A+B+X+Y+Start can be turned on in nexusconfig.ini, though the author warns it may corrupt your SD card.

CTGP-7 won't work with it, because its anti-cheat blocks Luma3DS forks. The author suggests Luma's FIRM payload chainloader or Fastboot3DS to switch between Nexus3DS and Luma3DS.

Release notes

v0.4.1 · Nexus3DS v0.4.1 · Sep 7, 2026

What's new?

 • Added support to load the new Sysplugins .3nx file format. This new system allows external code to attach directly onto Loader and Rosalina, extending the features of Nexus3DS.
 • Place any amount of .3nx files in /luma/plugins/ to dynamically load these. 'Load external FIRMs and modules' must be enabled for Sysplugins to take effect.
Check out the 3NX Documentation and Development Kit here
 • boot.firm now comes with a pair file boot.3nr, this allows Sysplugins to repair themselves against the current Nexus3DS build.
This .3nr file can be ignored if you do not intend to use Sysplugins.

Place both boot.firm and boot.3nr on your SD root, or download from Universal Updater!
