Method 1Scan the QR code
With FBI (Remote Install › Scan QR Code) or 3dsDL (Scan QR Code). Either one installs it.

Open 3dsDL › Receive on the same Wi-Fi, then press:

From your SD card: copy Line_for_3DS.3dsx into /3ds/ and start it from the Homebrew Launcher.
Send can't find your 3DS? Type the address 3dsDL shows on Receive, then press Send.

About Line for 3DS
Setup takes some work. You make your own LINE bot and Google Apps Script by following the author's setup guide, and the app talks to them. Since version 2.0.0 the camera can scan a QR code for the script setup. Coming from an older version, you have to set the script up again, and the app's folder has moved from /Line/ to /3ds/Line/.
You can send text, pictures, video, audio and files of up to 37.5MB each. Incoming messages can be text, pictures, audio or video, and it keeps up to 4000 old messages. Stickers only work from packages 11537, 11538 and 11539. Direct messages work, and group chats do if you let the bot join groups in the LINE developer settings. Open chat and voice calls don't. There's a night mode. Automatic chat log updates have been taken out for now.
On an original 3DS very large images may not show, and some videos play slowly or not at all.
