TRAX 1.0.0 — what changed since RC 1

New

The list redrawn. The selected row is filled rather than recoloured, and alternating rows take a faint band so the eye can follow a long name.
A glyph says what each row is — folder, music note, or a page for the rows that neither open nor play (a booklet PDF, a sleeve scan).
Tracks say how long they play, in a second column, measured by an idle pass that does one visible track a frame.
Folders say how many rows they open as — not how many files they hold, since a cue album collapses to one row.
Help, a fourth Settings tab: every control in the app on one page, the buttons drawn as their own shapes. Up and Down scroll it, held they repeat.

Changed

Constants that were one number for two machines are now two — probe pacing, the launch hold, the scrollbar, the visualization menu and the folder picker. The PSP is untouched in every case but one; what ends is the Vita inheriting numbers that were never its own.
A fourth sizing factor, UI_ROWS(), for panels of text rows — the ratio the list had already chosen by hand and never written down.
The About box says TRAX, the last place the product was still TRAXPSP.

Fixed

An .m4a’s length took a whole decoder to read; it now comes out of mvhd in the first 4 KB.
The cover beside a .cue stopped showing, and the scrollbar came out in pieces — both the same drawing-order bug.
On a Vita, a row’s time ran under the scrollbar, and the visualization menu hid its fourteenth row.
Probe timings never reached the log, and probing dropped frames while the list was moving.
The kernel helper had been compiling with a warning since it was written — NAME_MAX redefined. Only a cold build ever showed it, which is how RC 1 shipped over the top of it.

Builds — 1.0.0 (423) on all three: PSP CFW, PSP OFW, Vita .vpk. Zero compiler warnings, from a clean tree.

v1.0.0RC1 · Oct 4, 2026

TRAX 1.0.0 RC 1 is out — a music player for the PSP and PS Vita. The beta run
ended at 11; this is a release candidate.

Five more visualizations, bringing it to thirteen. The equalizer goes from
five bands to ten, drawn as a proper graphic equalizer. And the Vita stops
borrowing the PSP's screen: the cassette is drawn at a full 960×544, and the
text and icons are sized from what the fonts actually measure rather than the
PSP's numbers at double size.

Plus a thing worth knowing if you stream from a server: turning Original
format ON makes tracks start four to six times sooner, not slower, because
the server stops transcoding before it sends anything. Lossless at CD rates
goes over a PSP's wi-fi comfortably — ALAC at 1139 kbps and WAV at 1411 play
clean. Hi-res still doesn't.

Five fixes, including a Vita whose cassette reels had been turning the wrong
way, and cover art that vanished when you skipped through a cue album.
