About tilefinch
Everything runs on the console: networking, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, layout and drawing. YouTube and HTML5 video play at 240p or 360p through the PSP's own decoder. There are five tabs, bookmarks, history, find in page, an ad blocker, a reader mode, and a basic view for pages whose scripts fail. Type with the system keyboard or the Danzeff keyboard. It updates itself from inside the app.
It needs custom firmware and the 64 MB memory mode, so a PSP-2000, 3000 or Go. The author runs it on a PSP-3000 and expects the 2000 and Go to work. The PSP-1000 isn't supported. Leave about 20 MB free on the Memory Stick.
Save a Wi-Fi connection in the PSP's Network Settings first. Tilefinch uses profile 1 unless you pick another in Settings, Device & storage. WPA2 works with the latest ARK-4, otherwise the PSP only joins WPA (TKIP) or open networks.
ARK-4 users can add tilefinch_xmb.prx from the OPTIONAL folder as a VSH plugin. The XMB's Internet Browser icon then opens Tilefinch, and holding L gets you Sony's browser.
The author calls voice search, an optional download, slow and inaccurate.
