QuickPower changelog

v0.91 · Jan 8, 2007

With the release of Dark_Alex's 3.03 OE-A' firmware today you might be looking for something new to add to your PSPs firmware. And so, right on cue comes this update to the QuickPower PRX from Martek, bringing it up to version 0.9. QuickPower is a PRX module (that's a firmware file for those not in the know) which allows you to do a variety of things which are not included with 3.03 OE firmwares just yet. It allows you to easily switch your system off or reboot it, as well as configure brightness settings using key combinations. Here's the full list of functions:

  • Reboot: HOME & START
  • Immediately Power off: HOME & SELECT (Bypasses the 5 second wait you usually have when powering your PSP off.)
  • Brightness -: HOME & L
  • Brightness +: HOME & R (incl. the 4th lightness)

And of course an update to QuickPower wouldn't be complete without a changelog, and users of the previous version should be quite happy with this as a few of the bugs from the last version have been fixed. A couple of new features to customize your PSP experience with have also been added:

  • Now you can start the Recovery Menu on Reboot as well
  • Fixed little bug with brightness function
  • Now SCE logo is not shown if disabled in recovery menu
  • Added config file for your own button-combinations

Please remember that the reboot function only reboots the XMB, which is good if you are flashing another PRX to your PSP and want to see any changes which have been made. To install this, just copy the "seplugins" folder onto your memory stick, and that's it! It's that simple! However, as always, make sure to read the readme file first before making any changes, to find out how to use the new version properly, especially since it does include a new config file which requires a little tweaking if you want to change the button configuration.
UPDATE: Martek has provided another update to his QuickPower PRX today, adding a simple standby feature which doesn't actually put your PSP into standby mode but freezes it and then shuts down the screen until you wake up it again; providing the same effect as a standby mode. Download the updated file below!

With the FW 3.03 Updater from Sony, there's bound to be a lot of features that you've used in previous firmware versions that won't be compatible anymore. These could be simple plugins that help you work your way around the XMB or whatnot.

Due to this, Martek took some time to create a couple of tools that he used in 2.71 SE-C but couldn't run on 3.03 "Oh Yeah". QuickPower is a module of his that allows you to easily switch your system off or reboot it, as well as configure brightness settings.

Here are the features in QuickPower v0.1:

  • Reboot* PSP => HOME+Start
  • Power Off PSP => HOME+Select
  • Decrease Brightness => HOME+Left Trigger
  • Increase Brightness => HOME+Right Trigger

*NOTE: Rebooting means just that the PSP is restarting the XMB. It will use the normal PSP Bootscreen even if you have configured it to be not shown on startup. This function is good to restart after updating a PRX module on the memorystick. If you want to go to the Recovery Menu use Power Off and start again.

To install:

  • Just copy the seplugins folder to your memorystick root if you don't have any other plugins installed.
  • If you have other plugins just add "ms0:/seplugins/quickpower.prx" (without quotes) to vsh.txt and put my prx module in the same folder.

This plugin is only for 3.03OE but should also work with 3.02OE. I have just tested it under 3.03 so I don't know if it is realy working.
