PSPTube changelog

v2008-02-29 · Feb 29, 2008

A new build is out for developer SofiyaCat's PSPTube program. For those who haven't encountered the program before, PSPTube allows your unit to play FLV files without the need to convert them.

Unfortunately, like one of its previous releases back in January, this latest release doesn't come with a changelog, or even a readme, so we don't know what changes were made. If you happen on the change, you can give us the heads up by commenting below.

PSPTube is now on release 20080301. However, please be reminded that the application is still on its evaluation stages so be sure to know what you're doing before you use it to avoid any problems.

v2008-02-27 · Feb 27, 2008

The latest in the PlayStation Portable homebrew scene for the day's transition to February 28, 2008 kicks off with an update to PSPTube 20080224, and that is this new release of PSPTube 20080228. Thanks to tipster Isaac D and a good tongue babelizer, we've been able to make out what's new with this release.

Please do note that our accuracy is just as great as a babelizer, so if anyone could correct our Nihonngo, feel free to do so. We'll update the notes as necessary. We do know that 20080228 brings many features from 0224 for additional experimentation and feedback, so right now these are what's new to come with 0228:

Moving may have become "outmoded" (?) - new with 0228
Added DecodeHTML to DecodeURL function (?) - new with 0228
Set screen size can now be set as default by editing configuration line "PSPTube.ScreenZoom = 0; / / 0: normal 1: full"- new with 0228
Network status now viewable - new with 0228
End of play mechanic stabilized (?) - new with 0228

AS with the previous versions, simply copy the extracted folder to your Sony PlayStation Portable's GAME directory and execute the EBOOT included. More updates to come soon - and that's most likely, if the Japanese-inclined among you help us clear up our translation.

v2008-02-24 · Feb 24, 2008

Homebrew developer SofiyaCat has released the latest version of PSPTube, the app that lets you play FLV videos on your PSP without the need to convert the files. Release 20080224 has three new features. Here's the changelog:

JavaScript can be added at the site.

This based on the part of the search for additional specifications.

Video Search part of the specification is subject to change

v2008-02-15 · Feb 15, 2008

SofiyaCat has updated PSPTube, bringing the application up to version 20080216. According to what we've been able to decipher from her website, there appears to be one main change that's been specified: "video-enabled version of the search specification change."

Note that the file for PSPTube 20080216 from SofiyaCat's site is just an Eboot. To install this new version of the application, you should overwrite PSPTube 20080211 to get it to work.

In any case, give the application a try and see how it works for you. If you happen to notice any other changes in this version, feel free to note them in the comments below so that other users can know about the pertinent changes to the application.

v2008-02-11 · Feb 11, 2008

Homebrew coder SofiyaCat has just released a new version of the very handy application PSPTube, bumping it up to build 20080211.

For the uninitiated, this program allows users to play .FLV files on the Sony PSP without the need to convert them. As you all know, PSPTube releases are done in Japanese so changelogs don't come easily.

However, some of our readers have told us that the following improvements have been noticed:

  • veoh is GONE
  • youKU was added
  • fixed Daily Motion

If you've noticed some changes that we failed to list down, you can help us inform the rest of the PlayStation Portable homebrew community by putting your find in the comment section below.

QJ.NET would like to thank Ari Bornstein, SBrown, Nyutan & CLoud_V.02 for the heads up!

Homebrew developer SofiyaCat has released a new version of the application PSPTube, bumping it up to build 2008109. For the uninitiated, PSPTube is a program that allows users to view .FLV files on the PlayStation Portable.

Such files are associated with streaming media websites like YouTube. Unlike the previous release, however, PSPTube 2008109 does not come with a changelog so we are rather uncertain as to the exact changes.

Despite that, we are pretty confident that the coder has added a lot of improvements that will delight the program's long-time users. As a matter of fact, QJ,NET forum member FreePlay has posted a comment over at our own PSP Development Forum saying that one addition noticed was the ability to delete saved videos from the "Favorites" folder.

At any rate, be sure that you know exactly what you are doing in installing PSPTube 2008109 to your Sony handhelds to avoid any problems.

QJ.NET would like to thank Isaac D. for the heads up!

For those tuning in for the first time, PSPTube enables you to view .flv video files associated with streaming sites like YouTube. This latest release appears to come with several new changes (translated via Babelfish); We'll highlight the notes that should be easy to figure out:

  • it reached the point where it can do halt and playback with the START button.
  • Detailed bug was corrected
  • the kana which is stabilized relatively?
  • As for the below-mentioned bug being to remain please note.
  • The PSP ? ? it is enormous well enough, don't you think? is, the *2
  • Known bug When changing to Online from Offline, when network connected dialogue will be cancelled, OSK tries probably to be opened with the × button 100% it freezes. -> You inspect and it is in & in the midst of correcting.
  • Bug report in regard to this version is not necessary.
  • It is not the case that all functions which it has planned are mounted. Please insert in the GAME folder.
  • This is snapshot version.

According to the guys who've tried this new release (both here at QJ and at DCEmu), PSPTube will now allow you to save your Youtube videos. gamefreak199101 of the DCEmu forums was also kind enough to provide for a clear explanation of the controls:

  • O- is to search for a video
  • X- is to enter
  • []- is to switch screens and make a side view of the video while watching
  • Select- is to change between youtube, veoh and favorites
  • Start- to pause during videos

We further warn the readers that while this new release appears to be more stable, it's still a beta build. It's still unstable, and may be susceptible to crashes.

v2007-12-24 · Dec 24, 2007

Homebrew developer SofiyaCat has come up with another quick update with the new version of PSPTube 20071224, a nifty app on the PSP which allows users to view .flv file formatted videos usually associated with YouTube.

The new version is still prone to unexpected crashes and is noted to be still quite buggy. However, the new interface is finally in English so PSP users can have an easier time navigating through it.

Also, PSPTube 20071224 also sports a more refined search engine based on the ones displayed on the screen, similar to YouTube's search tags accompanied with every video

The developer has warned users that the current build is still unstable and should use the application with caution. In any case, we've provided a download link to the file below.

v2007-12-22 · Dec 22, 2007

PSP Homebrew Developer SofiyaCat has finally come out with a new version of PSPTube, the app that lets you view YouTube clips on your PSP without having to download and convert the FLV files.

According to Ranmax09, the app has a new interface and some new features and now also runs the videos in sync. However, SofiyaCat does not recommend using it as the app is unstable and still quite buggy.

Here's the changelog for PSPTube 20071222 as translated by Google and AltaVista's Babelfish:

  • Bug report in regard to this version is not necessary.
  • Quite unstable, so please do not use it much. If also redistribution is possible, please refrain.
  • It is not the case that all functions which it has planned are mounted.
  • Please insert in the GAME folder. There are many many many bugs at this version.
  • This is snapshot now. I do not recommend to use this version.

Users are reminded that the program is still unstable. Please use the app with caution.

v2007-09-09 · Sep 9, 2007

The latest version of PSPTube has just been released by SofiyaCat. In case you missed our previous coverage, this homebrew allows users to view YouTube clips on their PSP without having to manually download and convert the files.

The developer gave word at the official site that this is an experimental version and as such still has a few things that have to be fixed. First and foremost, this will only run on Firmware 1.00 and 1.50, it still doesn't have support for CFWs. With regards to the changes that were implemented, here is a Google translation of the change log:

Big modification point

  • The network setting part has been modified
  • The decoding MP3 MediaEngine? So have tried to do
  • It has reached the point where the font file for message is read
  • When the same message file as animated picture (the comment file of xml type of happy animated picture) it is in the favorites folder, it indicates that with respect to animated picture. If (“foo.flv” that you think whether “foo.xml” it becomes) it can enjoy to that appearance just feeling.

Unfortunately, our Japanese Translator isn't in this weekend, so we couldn't really get much information from the read me, so we thought we might ask some of our multi-lingual readers to help out the PSP community by translating some parts of it. As with all experimental homebrew, there is always the possibility that something untoward might happen, so you might want to continue using your older version until a more stable release.

v2007-08-09 · Aug 9, 2007

Japanese PSP homebrew developer gai_jin came up wityh a good application known as PSPtube! that allows users to play Youtube videos without having to convert or host the files using a computer. To put things better, note that this is not a FLV player as it actually play videos from the said site.

We really can't understand Japanese but it's a good thing that QJ.NET loyal reader and forum member a0dki11s had a correspondence with the owner of the application and got these details:

  • You need a Developer ID, and put it on the psptube.cfg
  • Download the PSPTube20070805.zip on the link provided
  • If you are in CFW look in the zip for a folder named over 200
  • Drag the "psptube" to the GAME folder in your CFW (BTW im currently on 3.51 M33)
  • Open the psptube folder and edit the "psptube.cfg" file (using notepad)
  • Look for the line dev_id = "" inside the parenthesis if you have a Youtube developer account, type the username there.
  • Save it and start youtubing
