v1.5 · May 26, 2008

If you found PSPlorer v1.4 useful, then you'll be happy to know that pspZorba has rolled out version 1.5 of the application. For those who aren't too familiar with this program, it is a file brower which provides quite a number of features that advanced PSP users will appreciate.

PSPlorer v1.5 now sports PSP to PSP file and directory tranfers via WiFi. In addition, file extraction from eboot files is now possible as well as support for different languages. Here's a list of all the new features as well as the functions of the application:

The new functionalities:

  • file and directory transfert from PSP to PSP via wifi (using an access point), this new mode works over internet. If you are behind a router you will have to use port forwardinf (the port used by PSPlorer is configurable in the config file PSPlorer.txt which is generated at the first run)
  • file extraction from eboots
  • multi-languages, you can add your own language. To do this just create a text file with the translations (corresponding line by line with english.txt), modify the config file (psplorer.txt) put the name of your file at the tag [langiageFileName] (don't forget the space between the tag and the file name).
  • configuration of colors, wifi port etc by a config file => PSPlorer.txt

The main functionalities:

  • file exploration on the memory-stick, flash0, flash1 and umd
  • copy, delete, move, rename of files and directories
  • dump and securised flash of the NAND. WARNING, even if the flash has been tested on several PSP, the flash of the nandBackup is still a risky thing. I won't accept any responsabilities in case you brick your PSP.
  • UMD backup in ISO and CSO format
  • USB connexion
  • creation of new files and new directories
  • file hexedit
  • file and directory transfert from PSP to PSP via ADHOC-Game sharing mode OR wifi (via an access point), this new mode works over internet. If you are behind a router you will have to use port forwarding (the port used by PSPlorer is configurable in the config file PSPlorer.txt which is generated at the first run)
  • file conversion from iso to cso
  • file and directory properties change ( access right, creation/update/access dates)
  • file extraction from eboots

Like most homebrew, be sure to go over the documentation included with the file to avoid any problems with the program.

v1.4 · May 2, 2008

Another shell program for the PlayStation Portable has made its way into the homebrew community as developer pspZorba delivers the latest version of PSPlorer. Version 1.4 includes several functions that are very useful for the more advanced user.

While PSPlorer sports many of the features of your standard handheld file explorer, the newest build allows users to convert or even back-up their files in either CSO or ISO format. The developer was also able to correct a bug found in built-in keyboard, which sometimes adds strage characters in its default set.

Anyway, here's the list of all the new changes included since our previous coverage of PSPlorer:

  • UMD backup in CSO format
  • file conversion from iso to cso
  • Directory transfert in ADHOC mode
  • file and directory properties change ( access right, creation/update/access dates) ( WELL it's not really new it was present in the HB but not in the doc)
  • correction of bug in the default value of the OSK virtual keyboard. The effect of the bug was that sometimes strange extra char could be seen in the default value.

In addition, pspZorba revealed some of the future plans for the application. These include plans to change the Adhoc mode of communication to improve performance, multi-language support, and changing the UI into something more pleasing to the eye.

In any case, you can download the file bundle containing PSPlorer v1.4 through the link we've provided. Don't forget to read through the appropriate documentation included with the application before installing it on your PSP.
