v0.4 · Jan 20, 2007

Main coder 2.6, CRACKED!, coder Rikardo_92, and graphic designer PSP-KID, collectively known as the Desire Dev Team, has recently released v0.4 of their shell program, PSPHustlaz. Just in case you're wondering what it does, the shell has a music player, which includes UMD loading, Music Playing, Image Viewing, EBOOT loading, and the usual USB and battery info. Now, if you want more info about this app, be sure to read the readme file that comes with the download. Now, to the changelog.

Changelog for v0.4:

  • Added wifi update function(uses first internet connection), so you can download straight away on the go, after downloaded you will have to restart the psp - no GUI in it - jst debug text, some of the base code used is made by Insert_Witty_Name(formerly Insomniac).
  • EBOOT loading is still not working, please leave feedback if it does work for you.

Future plans for this app include fixing all bugs, hopefully put video, WAV, BMP/TGA support. Well, we wish them all the best. If you wanna share your thoughts about this, feel free to speak your mind in the comments section. Have fun you guys!

v0.3 · Jan 2, 2007

Now called the Desire Dev Team, homebrew app coders 2.6, Cracked!, Rikardo_92, and PSP_Kid have taken the next step with their shell program. Now ticked at v0.3, PSP Hustlaz Shell has been flushed out of bugs that have been reported to the coding team. See? As long as you make yourself heard, you're bound to be listened to.

Here's the complete changelog for PSP Hustlaz Shell v0.3:

  • Told that MP3Player did not work at all in some cases - fixed completly, made it fully compatible on its own.
  • Told that EBOOT loader did not work in Custom Firmwares - I think the VSH is patched, so I cant use sceKernelLoadExec, but I will try the VSH commands for the next release. So if you are new to the shell do not be surprised, used to work on 1.5 for me (now 3.02 OE-B).
  • Added a click sound to the Shell but it slows down the menu, PM me if you want it removed to speed up the menu and I will keep it like that in future versions.

They're still planning to incorporate support for videos, WAV files, and BMP/TGA images for the viewer. Thus said, may we take this time to once again stress the importance of support and bug testing. Make sure you report them to the developers so that they could act quickly on the bugs.

When it comes to shell programs, iR Shell is probably the most used and widely recognized by the homebrew community. The application has gone a long way, with it being updated every now and then. But it doesn't mean though that is all the scene has to offer. Hey! We are talking about brilliant and creative minds here.

Just take a look at this release for example: PSPHustlaz is another shell program created by developers 2.6,CRACKED, PSP-KID and Ricardo_92. Their program is capable of loading UMD, playing MP3 files, viewing images (JPG and PNG only), loading EBOOT and USB as well as providing battery information.

This is actually the second release of PSPHustlaz with the first one having encountered minor bugs and problems. Anyway, a new release can always be equated with improvements, right? We expect better things from PSPHustlaz as this application progresses. Keep up the good work, guys!

Changelog:

  • Multiple Icon in Shell menu bug fixed (At start of MP3 Player and Shell appears black, just press any button and the screen will come up - i wouldn't press X because it will load something before you know what you are loading
  • On the shell's music icon press X to go straight to the Music player, O to define a homebrew (it goes to a file browser where it saves the dir to the file, but you cant exit due to an exception error im working on)
  • MP3's Buttons updated
  • Fixed some of the problems with the EBOOT loader (please leave feedback if it doesn't load a certain type of EBOOT)
  • A minor bug crash that shouldn't have been noticeable - but fixed
