Music prx v0.55 beta changelog
v0.55 · Aug 15, 2007
Remember the Music prx v0.54 app that developer Joek2100 released a few days ago? The coder passed by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to inform the handheld community that the homebrew plugin has been updated to version 0.55.
In case you're wondering what this app does, it's a custom firmware plugin that allows you to play music while you're running a game or vsh.
This latest release contains a bug fix - the bug in question caused some of the mp3 files being played to hang at the end of the file. Aside from that, Joek2100 is letting the guys know about several features that are going to be added in the future:
- auto enable the software decoder when the ME is in use, so playing mp3 can work with any homebrew that uses the me
- improve the on screen display
- add some sort of playlist in folder support (each subdir would be a separate playlist and you can switch between them, something like DJEK was talking about in the old thread)
- add more formats
- figure out how to get pops mode working
- have button inputs that are used in the prx ignored by everything else
Music prx v0.55 has been successfully tested on CFWs 3.52-M33 (Team M33) and 3.40 OE (Dark AleX). The homebrew's author further warns that users should not try to clock the vsh to 222/111 - doing so may cause the vsh to crash. Usage and installation instructions are available in the file bundle's readme, and over at Joek2100 release thread in our PSP dev forums.
v0.54 · Aug 14, 2007
Homebrew developer joek2100 has come out with a new beta version of Music prx. For those who haven't heard of it, Music prx is a custom firmware plugin that lets you play music on your PSP while running games and using the vsh.
There have actually been a couple of changes since the v0.50 release, so we've got the comprehensive changelog for the versions 0.51 to 0.54:
- 0.51: (beta)
o Fixed a bug which would prevent playback in some games (You can now remove hw.prx, it is no longer used)
o Since many people are reporting problems, I made this a "beta" version, I'll try and fix the bugs as soon as I can, see me last post in this thread for details
- 0.52: (beta)
o Fixed a bug which prevented some (I guess a lot) of atrac3 files from playing properly,
- 0.53: (beta)
o Fixed another bug making atrac3/atrac3 plus files not play, please update to this version before reporting any bugs, if you still have problems
- 0.54 beta:
o Removed the settings file because it was causing a problem
o Added those settings into music_conf.txt
o NOTE: In 3.40OE (and possibly other fws), setting the cpu speed > 222 will cause the vsh to not work/crash
o This seems fixed in 3.52 M33-2
Users will definitely want to check out the included readme for instructions on installing the plugin as well as information on how to use it. In any case, give this plugin a try and see if it works for you. Enjoy!
v0.50 · Aug 10, 2007
The last time we heard from PSP homebrew developer joek2100 was for the release of 2.71 SEB" MP3, or quite simply, the irsmp3 module. Now the dev's back and has released a modified version of irsmp3, called Music prx 0.50.
Why the name change? According to joek2100, Music prx 0.50 has atrac3 support. In case you missed all irsmp3's releases last year (or have forgotten), it's a "custom firmware plugin that allows you to play music while playing a game or using the vsh". There are a number of changes included in the readme file (PLEASE_READ_ME.txt) and the dev listed the important stuff on the release thread on the QJ Forums:
This has new hardware decoder will work with all umd games/the vsh/ and most homebrew. (Thanks to cooleyes)
It will not work with homebrew that uses the ME (SnesTYL ME, dosbox .71, etc)
It will not work with copy protected atrac3's
In the next release I'll have it switch back to the software decoder (mp3 only) when the ME is in use, but until then you'll have to use the non-ME version
Also when playing an mp3 that has a samplerate different from 44.1kHz, you need to pause the song before the vsh's video/music player will work
Joek2100 also included the changelog, plus several planned changes:
0.5:
Added In Game mute
Added a HW decoder (thanks to cooleyes), which should make playback faster
Fixed various bugs, overclocking the vsh browser now works
Added wave atrac3 (.at3) and sonic stage atrac3 (.oma/.omg/.aa3) support (only with non copy protected files, but you should be able to remove copy protection with the newer sonic stage)
Added support for music copied to the psp using sonic stage (in OMGAUDIO)
Changed how the cpu is changed, it is now based on the current speed, even if some other program changed it
CPU + Mode settings are now saved, (if a game changes the cpu speed, it isn't saved, but if you change the speed it will be saved, also nothing
prevents a game from changing the speed after its set)
Added support for mp3's at samplerates != 44.1kHz
Added a loop current song button
Future plans:
auto enable the software decoder when the ME is in use, so playing mp3 can work with any homebrew that uses the me
improve the on screen display
add some sort of playlist in folder support (each subdir would be a seperate playlist and you can switch between them, something like DJEK was talking about in the old thread)
add more formats
figure out how to get pops mode working
have button inputs that are used in the prx ignored by everything else
(Whew.) Anyway, joek2100 is open to bug reports and suggestions - you can visit the dev at the forums or post a comment below. The dev also left a couple of reminders in case you have any problems. According to the release, if you are having problems starting a game, you should try waiting for the game's main menu before playing music. Also, joek2100 gave a tip regarding error messages and errors in general: turn on the on screen display, and look for a line in blue.
Check out the download below and feel free to discuss Music prx 0.50 on the QJ Forums. As always, check out the readme. Enjoy!
