Homebrew developer MadMax11 has released Maelstrom Alpha3 for the Sony PlayStation Portable. We see quite a number of changes with this space RPG's third release including the addition of five random missions on each planet which have replaced the pub system in the previous version. As for the other changes, here's a look at all the changes that were made to the game since the previous release of Maelstrom: * Code optimization for planet * Made planet images bigger * Added "Mylon" system & planet * Added system "Nyx" * Changed planet menus for anticipation of missions * Distributed upgrades * Added portal to map as a red dot * Added credits * Started implementing missions * Finished implementing missions (Can't do more than one at once.. for now. You make commissions off of completed missions.) * Added L+R to exit from main menu * Added mission info to pause screen * Put prices on upgrades * Code is more tidy for planet * Reorganized ships, by size & price & looks, distributed throughout systems * Added 1 shipLike all homebrew, remember to go over the documentation included with the application to prevent any unwanted mishaps.

Take a trip around the galaxy in the latest build of homebrew developer MadMax11's Maelstrom Alpha2 for the PlayStation Portable. The latest release of this space-faring RPG marks itself as the second alpha release and includes a lot of interesting new features. The game still doesn't have much in the way of content, but with the way things are going, Maelstrom looks like a promising homebrew game once its final build is complete. Anyway, here's a list of the new improvements added since the previous release:- Finished jumping sequence- Added "Sam" system & planet- Added 7 new ships- Added new font (04b_03)- Added new ship upgrade- Touched up ship images- Made it so that ship can only land on planet if velocity is very low and ship is right above itThe developer is currently looking for additional feedback to help improve the game. If you feel like dropping MadMax11 a line, you can visit his thread on the QJ.NET PSP Development forum. As always, please make sure to go through the Readme.txt file before installing any files into your handheld.

Most updates we get from the PSP development community aren't angled for Lua, but there are a few that do pop up. MadMax11 at the QJ.NET Forums just recently released an early Alpha build of Maelstrom, a space-based role-playing game in the making.Even in this form, the PlayStation Portable homebrew game is promising - it may be lacking in content but it plays smoothly and most of the gameplay features are functional. The homebrew developer says that the game was supposed to be released when it was completed, but decided to release an early version to get some third-party input. In any case, initial feedback is glaringly positive, and you'd be hard-pressed not to give Maelstrom Alpha a spin.Coder MadMax11 says that a new build will be available soon for Sony's handheld, so we'll keep our eyes peeled for that. Until then, enjoy.
