About LightMP3
Sakya's player, built to use as little battery as it can. MP3 and ATRAC3+ decode on the Media Engine with the CPU at 20 MHz, OGG Vorbis plays at 50 MHz and FLAC at 100 MHz. Sakya puts a full battery at about 9 hours with the screen at its lowest brightness, and over 11 with the screen off (Start while a track plays). This build adds support for firmware 6.20 to 6.61.
There's a file browser, M3U playlists with an editor, and a media library you can browse by artist, album or genre. It reads ID3 and Vorbis tags and MP3 cover art, bookmarks audiobooks, has equalizers for MP3 through libMAD, a sleep mode and an Audioscrobbler log for last.fm. The headphone remote works. It's skinnable and the menus are in English, Italian, Portuguese, French, Polish and Dutch.
In the player:
- Cross: pause, Circle: stop
- L and R: previous and next track
- Select: play mode
- Triangle: sleep mode
- Analog stick up and down: CPU clock
- L + Circle: bookmark the spot and quit
- L + R: help
The default clocks are set a bit high in case you run plugins. Without heavy plugins Sakya suggests 65 MHz for MP3 through libMAD, 45 for OGG, and 19 for the Media Engine, ATRAC3+ and WMA.
