Dementia changelog
v0.1b · Aug 6, 2007
PSP homebrew developer Freshmilk just came up with a new build for the fun game known as Dementia bringing it up to version 0.1b. Those who missed our last coverage on this might want to know that this creation is a color-puzzle game with the objective of making all the squares on the grid turn yellow.
This is not as easy as it sounds because clicking on one square will not only change that particular square's color but every single square around it as well. Anyway, here are the changes implemented to Dementia v0.1b coming directly from the developer:
- This version sports an extra 30 levels on top of the 50 from the last version. there are now 80 levels in the game.
- This version has been modified to externalize the levels from the game, meaning that level packs are supported now. I no longer have to make a full releases to add levels.
- The pesky inverse menu has been fixed, sorta. I had a lot of complaints about it, so I've put in the option to have it normal if you wish.
- I've edited the saving system so that we should end up with fewer lost game saves. If you do happen to lose your game, all you need to do is edit LEVEL.txt to say where you were up to, although its pretty sad to edit this unnessecerily.
- The 2nd fade in glitch at the start has been fixed up so to speed up the introduction and avoid annoyance.
- A new fade effect was implemented alongside the orginal for an extra special effect, lol.
- We've edited some of the credit screen and text on how to play the game to remove typos and wrong information. Sorry about that.
- We've now fixed the level numbering, in the case that is messed up having passed level 31. The level jumps have also been fixed.
- Fixed the glitch where the music stopped playing during or after the credits, I don't know what caused it, but whatever it was seems to have gone now.
- All of the credits and instruction screens have been remade, to be a lot less flashy, yet a lot more readable. Sorry for the quality loss, but we believe this is for the best.
- The quality loss of the music during the fades was looked into, although it can't be fixed easily. For now, it looks like we're just going to have to put up with it.
v0.1 · Jul 12, 2007
PSP homebrew developer Freshmilk tipped us off to a new game ready for play, titled Dementia v0.1. This homebrew is a color-puzzle game, where the player's goal is to convert all the red tiles on screen into yellow. Simple, but not easy - every time you click on a square, you also convert the color of the squares around it into its opposite color.
This game was made by Freshmilk, along with the rest of the newly formed Teh Peek-Uh-Chewz team. Here's a little backgrounder on the rest of the crew (according to Freshmilk):
- Gr34t3st; a well known partner and friend who has been working with me for quite some time now. He covers GFX and some of the designs, and has brought about all the GFX in this game rather quickly.
- Dante_emo Hunter; I've known him as a friend for quite a long while now, I'd say around about a year. This is our first project together, but again his GFX look promising from what I've seen of them. Although he hasn't put much into this release, what he did contribute was pretty damn good; we'll hope to see more work from him in future.
- TheSilenceofNoOne; A good friend and a confident worker. If I were honest, he has no specific role in the team, although what he does helps to make the produce brilliant; His main jobs include providing music for the games, beta testing and finding glitches, and helping us with the more time consuming tasks. He has put a lot into Dementia, as we hope he will for other projects.
On a last note, this game is also an entry to the Neo Flash Summer Coding competition 2007. We wish Freshmilk and the team good luck in their endeavor, while we hope the guys here enjoy the game. More info can be found at the author's release thread at our QJ.NET Forums.
