Puts the PS5 on your Tailscale network, for Remote Play and FTP from anywhere with no port forwarding

Install on your PS5

Payload: start an ELF loader on the PS5 first, such as elfldr, which listens on port 9021. Then open this address in a browser on a computer or phone on the same network, with your PS5's address in place of PS5. elfldr downloads the payload and runs it.

About Tailscale

It's the real Tailscale client (v1.104.0) as one payload. Once it runs, open port 8090 on the console's address from a phone or PC, scan the QR code and log in to your Tailscale account. The console gets a tailnet address, and the first run puts a Tailscale icon in the media section of the home screen that opens the status page. The developer lists firmware 13.42.

Anything listening on the console can then be reached at that address from your other Tailscale devices: FTP, the payload loader, web tools. Remote Play clients can connect from anywhere without port forwarding, and the developer has it working with Chiaki and with Asobi on iOS and Android. A Moonlight client on the PS5, such as ProsperoLight, can stream from a Sunshine host on your tailnet too.

It isn't a system-wide VPN. Games and PSN traffic don't go through Tailscale, and the console's apps and browser can't open tailnet addresses. There's no exit node, subnet routing or Tailscale SSH. It stops when the console restarts, but your login and settings are kept.

The author calls it unofficial and experimental, and has only run it on one console.

Release notes

v0.7.2 · Nov 1, 2026

> After updating, check your autoload settings. If a payload manager or autoloader starts Tailscale with the console, make sure it starts the new version, or the old one comes back after a restart. The easy way: keep that copy under a fixed name such as tailscale.elf and save the new release over it, or name its path under Payload file to keep up to date in the settings so the Install button replaces it for you.
>
> Updating: from 0.6.1 or later, press Install on the status page. From 0.6.0, install v0.7.0 with the Install button first, or download tailscale-0.7.2.elf and send it to the ELF loader (port 9021). From anything older, send the file by hand.

New

  • Reach devices behind a subnet router. With "acceptRoutes": true in config.json, the console uses the subnet routes other devices on your tailnet advertise, so a forward can reach a device that does not run Tailscale itself, such as 192.168.1.20:8096. It is off by default, is set in the file only, and takes effect when Tailscale starts. Your tailnet's access rules still apply. Thanks to @antonioacg, who contributed this and tested it on a PS5 Slim on 13.60 with Headscale. It has not been turned on on the maintainer's console, which has no subnet router to try it with. With it off, nothing changes.
