Regie5 changelog

v0.8.0 · Oct 23, 2026

Régie5 0.8.0: your disks' health and your viewing statistics, both optional.

Two optional services, read-only like everything Régie5 reads: if you do not use them, nothing changes on screen.

Disk health, with Scrutiny

  • If you run Scrutiny, give its address on the phone page (no key needed): a failing disk, a disk too hot, or one whose last reading is more than 48 hours old counts among Home's health alerts. ✕ on such an alert opens the disk
  • Jellyfin › Server gets a Disks section: each disk, its temperature and its state, as Scrutiny's own page says it (following its Device status threshold setting)
  • A disk's sheet (✕ on a disk): its state, its temperature and the last 7 days', how long it has run, when it was last read, and the SMART attributes that are not fine, named in plain words (reallocated sectors, pending sectors, cable errors…)
  • Scrutiny sets no temperature threshold; Régie5's: a hard disk or SATA SSD is warm from 50 °C and too hot from 60 °C, an NVMe SSD from 70 °C and 80 °C
  • Scrutiny 0.8 and 0.9 (tested with 0.9.5). Régie5 never shows nor keeps a disk's serial number, model, maker or firmware. Small answers: about 3 KB per disk

Viewing statistics, with Jellyfin's Playback Reporting plugin

  • With the official Playback Reporting plugin installed in Jellyfin, two pills appear in the Jellyfin tab: Server · Statistics. Nothing to enter in Régie5: it uses the API key it already has
  • Over 7 days, 30 days or 12 months: the hours watched and the plays, a bar a day (a month over 12 months), the hours of each user, and the most watched films and series with their posters (found in Radarr and Sonarr by title)
  • Only the plugin's read-only calls are used: never the ones that change its data, never its free SQL query, never which device or app played what
  • The plugin counts from the day it is installed (Statistics says so while it is empty), and keeps 3 months by default: choose Forever in its settings for a full year
  • Not with Emby or Plex yet

Also

  • Settings: Scrutiny's row ("3 disks"), and the plugin next to Jellyfin's version; with six services each row keeps its address
  • The phone page has a Scrutiny section
  • What's new: a short screen once after the update

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile, under Games)
  • Updating from an earlier version: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept

Known limitations

  • Viewing statistics: Jellyfin only (Playback Reporting); not with Emby or Plex yet
  • Plex is still in beta: Plex feedback is welcome, even if everything works. No Cleanup with Plex yet
  • Emby (beta): reports are still welcome in issue #1
  • Requests from Régie5 are made as the API key's account: asking on behalf of another Seerr user is not possible yet
  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5, or Plex) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in… names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.7.0 · Oct 18, 2026

Régie5 0.7.0: smoother, lighter, and Japanese, Chinese and Korean titles.

A release about how Régie5 runs rather than what it shows: every change was measured on the console.

Smoother at 120 Hz

  • No more stutter when a screen opens: new texts and posters are now prepared a little in each frame instead of all at once. Measured on the console at 120 Hz in 4K, the same automatic tour three times each way: 5 to 10 missed frames per tour before, none after; the worst gap between two frames went from 25 ms to 12 ms
  • A poster already received comes back at once: the picture files are kept (12 MB on the console), so the same poster at another size, or again after scrolling away, is never asked from the server again. On a real library: 1 % of pictures asked twice, against 59 % before

Large libraries, slow servers

  • Large libraries use far less memory: lists are read one title at a time. A library of 5,000 films (19 MB as sent by Radarr) used to need 113 MB of memory to read, now 24 MB; the films and series are read once for the Library, the Cleanup and the Jellyfin tab together
  • A library list too large for the console (over 32 MB as sent, some 8,000 films) is no longer read: the Library says "Library too large for Régie5" for that instance instead of running out of memory
  • A slow or switched-off server no longer holds up the others: at most two requests at a time go to each service, and a server that cannot be reached is set aside for 10 seconds (its screens say Unreachable at once; Test still tries it). After 3 seconds, the bottom of the screen says which service is being waited for: Waiting for Sonarr (5 s)…
  • Delays now hold everywhere, the connection and the HTTPS handshake included. HTTPS connections are kept for the next request to the same server (no new handshake for every poster); plain HTTP is unchanged
  • Host names are looked up once in a while, not for every request

Japanese, Chinese and Korean titles

  • Titles in Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional) and Korean are shown, with a font (a subset of Noto Sans CJK, 2.3 MB) read only when such a title appears
  • Characters that no font of Régie5 has (Arabic, Hebrew, Thai…) are shown as □ instead of a box with a question mark

Also

  • Answers that a server could send damaged, cut short or with odd values were tested against every part of Régie5 that reads them (more than 1,800 cases): no crash
  • What's new: a short screen once after the update (Settings › What's new opens it again)

  • Arabic, Hebrew, Thai and other scripts that need right-to-left layout or joined letters are shown as □
  • Plex is still in beta: Plex feedback is welcome, even if everything works.
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5, or Plex) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in… names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.6.0 · Oct 17, 2026

Régie5 0.6.0: Plex support, in BETA.

> Plex users: please open an issue with your feedback, even if everything works. Plex support was tested against a test server only: every report, good or bad, tells us what to fix and what to keep.

New: Plex (beta)

  • Plex Media Server in Jellyfin's place: the same screens, which then say Plex. Choose Plex in the set-up screens, or add it from the phone page (Settings › From a phone). One media server at a time: Jellyfin, Emby or Plex
  • Sign in from your phone: on the phone page, give Plex's address (port 32400) and tap Sign in to Plex. Plex's own sign-in page opens on the phone (the phone needs the internet for it; the console still never reaches the internet). Régie5 finds your server among the account's, or asks which one, and saves its token on the console. A token can also be pasted by hand
  • Please read: what is kept on the console. For the server's owner, the token Plex gives is the Plex account's own token: it is kept in plain text in config.json on the console and opens the whole Plex account, not just this server. Removing "Regie5" from the account's devices does not revoke it. To revoke it, change your Plex password on plex.tv and tick Sign out connected devices (every app and server of the account is signed out). Plex offers no token limited to one server that an offline console could keep; the other way, with no token at all on the console, is Plex's "List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth" set to the console's address only, which Plex advises against
  • Sign in as the server's owner: what is playing, stopping a stream, scanning, the tasks, the log and the users need it. With another account, Settings turns Plex's line orange and each section says the owner's account is needed
  • What works with Plex: Home (recently added, with posters and backdrops, episodes of one series grouped), the Plex tab (who is watching what, Direct Play or transcoding, the playback diagnosis: source vs. sent to the client, hardware transcoding, "is the transcode keeping up?", advice), Scan libraries, the Butler's tasks and what runs now, your libraries (films, series, episodes and their size from Radarr / Sonarr) and the server's accounts (when each last watched something), Activity › Journal (finished playbacks), Find in Plex in Options (the title to look for in the Plex app)
  • Pictures always come from Plex's picture transcoder, at the size Régie5 needs (checked against 2000×3000 posters and 4K backdrops)
  • Never read: addresses, devices of the history, file paths, as with Jellyfin

Known limitations with Plex

  • Transcode reasons are worked out by Régie5: Plex gives none in a session. The diagnosis says so ("worked out by Régie5")
  • Stopping a stream probably needs Plex Pass: Plex refused it on a server without Plex Pass. Régie5 warns before, and says why if Plex refuses
  • No Cleanup with Plex for now: Plex does not show what other accounts are in the middle of watching, so Régie5 could suggest a title someone is watching. The Cleanup view says it is not available, and it cannot be turned on with Plex
  • The Journal shows finished playbacks only: Plex keeps no activity log (no sign-ins, no account changes)
  • The Butler tells how often its tasks run, not when they last ran
  • Plex 1.41.9 or later (tested with 1.43.4); a server whose secure connections are required needs https://<IP>:32400 with "Self-signed certificate" ticked
  • Hardware transcoding is a Plex Pass feature of Plex's: the diagnosis's advice says so

Changed

  • The set-up screens offer Jellyfin · Emby · Plex · None
  • Settings shows Plex's version, the account, and warns when Plex is used without a token (only if the server lets the console's network in without signing in, which Plex advises against)
  • A new issue form, Plex feedback (beta): Plex version, Plex Pass or not, shared accounts or Plex Home, what works, what doesn't, screenshots
  • What's new: a short screen once after the update (Settings › What's new opens it again)

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile, under Games)
  • Updating from an earlier version: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept. Jellyfin and Emby work as before

Known limitations

  • Requests from Régie5 are made as the API key's account: asking on behalf of another Seerr user (their quotas and permissions) is not possible yet
  • Quick Connect is Jellyfin's; Emby keeps its API key
  • Emby (beta): reports are still welcome in issue #1
  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5, or Plex) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in… names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.5.1 · Oct 17, 2026

Régie5 0.5.1: a fix for Emby servers with real artwork, and no more crash at every start.

Fixed

  • Emby: Régie5 could close at every start. Emby ignores the picture size Régie5 asks for and sent the original artwork (2000×3000 posters, 4K backdrops). Decoding several at once could run the app out of memory, and the Home screen asks for them right away. Pictures now come from Emby at the size Régie5 needs. Whatever a server sends, a huge picture is skipped (a drawn cover stands in) and big ones are decoded one at a time. Jellyfin is unchanged. Thanks to @ihatefillingthisout for the report in issue #1
  • The crash screen now points to the real crash. Régie5's own crash report could crash in turn, and the console showed that second crash instead

New

  • A safety net for config.json. If Régie5 closes twice in a row right after starting with the same config.json, the next start does not load it (the file is not changed). The Home screen and Settings say so, and the set-up screens open so you can fix it from your phone. Test all in Settings reads the file again

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile, under Games)
  • Updating from an earlier version: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept

If 0.4.0 or 0.5.0 closes at every start with Emby

Update to 0.5.1 as above: your config.json is kept and should work as it is. Don't delete config.json on its own: Régie5 keeps a copy of the last one it read and would use it.

Known limitations

  • Requests from Régie5 are made as the API key's account: asking on behalf of another Seerr user (their quotas and permissions) is not possible yet
  • Quick Connect is Jellyfin's; Emby keeps its API key (Emby Connect goes through the internet)
  • Emby (beta): reports are still welcome in issue #1
  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 (or Find in Emby5) names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.5.0 · Oct 15, 2026

Régie5 0.5.0: request films and series in Seerr, Quick Connect for Jellyfin, Spanish and German.

Fixed in 0.5.1: with Emby, Régie5 could close at every start. Update to 0.5.1; your config.json is kept.

New

  • Requests › Discover: search Seerr with the console's own keyboard, or browse its Trending, Popular films, Popular series, Upcoming films and Upcoming series rows. A title's page shows its year, overview and state (available, requested, partly available…), and for a series each season's state. Request… opens a sheet: the seasons still missing (all ticked), the quality (standard or 4K, when Seerr has a 4K server), the server, the quality profile and the folder, preset as in Seerr. A confirmation follows, with the focus on Cancel. □ clears the search
  • Requests are made as the account of Seerr's API key (its administrator), so they are usually approved at once. Nothing else is searched: no release search, no indexer, as before
  • Quick Connect for Jellyfin: no API key to copy. Give Jellyfin's address only, then choose Quick Connect on the set-up screens' check, or in Settings › Jellyfin's line › Options. Type the 6-digit code shown on the TV in Jellyfin on your phone (your profile › Quick Connect). Sign in with an administrator account: with another one, Régie5 says plainly where an administrator is needed, and Jellyfin's line in Settings turns orange. If the session is removed in Jellyfin (Dashboard › Devices), Settings says so: run Quick Connect again. An API key, when there is one, is used instead
  • Español and Deutsch, following the console's language, the phone page included. These translations were made with the help of AI: corrections by native speakers are welcome (docs/TRANSLATING.md)
  • What's new: after an update, a short screen lists what changed, once. It never shows at a first install, and Settings › What's new opens it again

Changed

  • Settings has six buttons; they narrow together when a language's words are longer
  • The Library's pills and the playback diagnosis' load chips adapt to longer texts
  • Updating from 0.4.x: your config.json and settings are kept; the What's new screen opens once

Community

  • CONTRIBUTING.md: how to report a bug, suggest an idea, translate or change the code
  • Questions about installing or setting up go to Discussions; bugs and ideas stay in the issues
  • The README opens with a short animation of the app

  • Requests from Régie5 are made as the API key's account: asking on behalf of another Seerr user (their quotas and permissions) is not possible yet
  • Quick Connect is Jellyfin's; Emby keeps its API key (Emby Connect goes through the internet)
  • Emby (beta): reports are still welcome in issue #1
  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 (or Find in Emby5) names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.4.0 · Oct 15, 2026

Régie5 0.4.0: Emby (beta), and set-up screens for the first start.

New

  • Emby, in beta, in Jellyfin's place: write "emby" instead of "jellyfin" in config.json (same fields), or choose Emby on the set-up screens. The Jellyfin screens work with it: sessions and the playback diagnosis (with Emby's own hardware-acceleration advice), Stop playback, Scan libraries, recently added, libraries, users, the activity log, scheduled tasks and Cleanup. The tab and the texts then say Emby, Settings marks it beta, and Options › Find in Emby5 names the title to look for. Emby 4.8 or newer; tested on the console against Emby 4.10.1.0. With both on, Jellyfin is used and Settings says so
  • Set-up screens at the first start (no config.json, one that cannot be read, or every service off): choose your media server (Jellyfin, Emby or None), scan the QR code, fill in the page on your phone, and every service is tested on the TV. Later closes them for good: the Home screen then offers Set up, and Settings › Setup opens them at any time. Updating from 0.3.x never shows them
  • The phone page shows only the media server you chose, and has an Emby section

Changed

  • The phone page: when the usual ports (8085 to 8090) are refused, the console picks a free one, and the QR code carries it
  • A config.json that cannot be read is kept beside the new one as config.json.invalid at the first save from the phone (never over an existing copy)
  • Nothing changes for Jellyfin

Emby beta: your reports are welcome

Emby support was tested on the console against a test server running Emby 4.10.1.0, not yet against a real Emby server with its own users, libraries and Emby Premiere. If you use Emby, please tell us what works and what does not in issue #1, with a photo of the screen if something looks wrong.

Thanks to @ihatefillingthisout, whose request in issue #1 brought Emby to Régie5.

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile, under Games)
  • Updating from an earlier version: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept, and the set-up screens do not open

Known limitations

  • Emby (beta): Cleanup with Emby is covered by the tests only so far; Emby 4.8 and 4.9 have not been tried; hardware acceleration is read from Emby but was not seen on a server with Emby Premiere
  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • Library sizes cover the titles Radarr and Sonarr know
  • Open in Jelly5 (or Emby5) is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 (or Find in Emby5) names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.3.2 · Oct 14, 2026

Régie5 0.3.2: 120 Hz by default, and a fix on film pages.

Changed

  • 120 Hz is no longer experimental. Auto now asks for 120 Hz and stays at 60 Hz on a display that refuses it. Tested on the console for 20 minutes in a row at 120 Hz in 4K (and 1440p): 120 frames per second, no slowdown, no crash. Settings › Display refresh still offers 60 Hz; a change applies at the next start
  • If you had chosen 120 Hz by hand, nothing changes for you; if you had chosen 60 Hz, it stays at 60 Hz

Fixed

  • On a film's page, the release dates (in cinemas, digital, physical) ran past the edge of the screen and were cut off: each date now has a line of its own
  • On a series' page with a long list of file qualities, the list wraps onto a second line, and the selected season always stays in view

  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link. A TV that takes 120 Hz only at a lower resolution may be sent that resolution: choose 60 Hz in Settings to keep 4K
  • The tile stays under Games: the Media area of the home screen does not let the app open the phone page
  • Library sizes cover the titles Radarr and Sonarr know
  • Open in Jelly5 is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.3.1 · Oct 14, 2026

Régie5 0.3.1: the phone page works again.

Fixed

  • Settings › From your phone works again. In 0.3.0 it failed with "listen: permission denied": the console did not let the app open the page from the Media area of the home screen

Changed

  • The tile is back in the Games area of the home screen for now (it moves by itself when you copy 0.3.1 over 0.3.0); the Media area will come back in a later version, once the phone page works there too
  • 120 Hz is experimental: Settings › Display refresh › 120 Hz (applied at the next start), on a display that accepts it. If Régie5 closes by itself at 120 Hz, go back to Auto. Auto stays at 60 Hz

Everything else is as in 0.3.0 (Seerr issues, Jellyfin libraries and users, counters on the tabs, reverse proxies).

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile)
  • Updating from 0.3.0 or 0.2.0: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept

Known limitations

  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link: on a display that refuses it, Régie5 stays at 60 Hz; at 120 Hz the 4K interface draws about 90 frames per second, so movement is not yet perfectly even
  • Library sizes cover the titles Radarr and Sonarr know
  • Open in Jelly5 is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.3.0 · Oct 13, 2026

Régie5 0.3.0: Seerr issues, Jellyfin libraries and users, counters on the tabs, 120 Hz.

New

  • Requests: Seerr issues (open / resolved / all), with the title, the kind of problem, the episode, who reported it and the whole thread; Options › Resolve and Comment (a few ready-made sentences), each asked again with Cancel first
  • Jellyfin: your libraries (films, series and episodes, collections, and their size, added up from Radarr and Sonarr) and users (when each was last active; never an address or a device)
  • Counters on the tabs: downloads in the queue (red on an error), requests waiting for an answer, people watching
  • 120 Hz on request, on a display that accepts it: Settings › Display refresh › 120 Hz (applied at the next start); Settings says when the display refuses it. Auto stays at 60 Hz for now
  • The tile moves to the Media area of the home screen (by itself when you copy 0.3.0 over 0.2.0)
  • Settings shows each service's address with its path, and the size and refresh rate of the picture
  • Minimum versions checked: a service older than Régie5 supports says "Version too old" in Settings
  • Languages: one file per language, and a guide to add one (docs/TRANSLATING.md)

Fixed

  • Behind a reverse proxy: a redirect (a login page in front of a service) is now reported as such, never followed
  • On the desktop build, a refused HTTPS certificate showed as "unreachable"
  • Two Settings messages about config.json were swapped

Known issue

  • "Set up from a phone" does not work in this version ("listen: permission denied"). Use 0.2.0 or edit config.json by FTP until 0.3.1.

Fixed in 0.3.1 — download the latest release.

Install

  • Unzip PPSA99520.zip and copy the PPSA99520 folder into /data/homebrew/ on the console (ShadowMount+ adds the tile)
  • Updating from 0.2.0: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json and settings are kept

Known limitations

  • 120 Hz depends on the display and its link: on a display that refuses it, Régie5 stays at 60 Hz; at 120 Hz the 4K interface draws about 90 frames per second, so movement is not yet perfectly even
  • Library sizes cover the titles Radarr and Sonarr know
  • Open in Jelly5 is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 names the title to look for
  • Tested on firmware 13.60

v0.2.0 · Oct 13, 2026

  • Open Régie5, then Settings › From a phone
  • Updating: copy the new folder over the old one; your config.json is kept

Known limitations

  • Open in Jelly5 is not possible: the console does not let one app start another; Options › Find in Jelly5 names the title to look for
  • After a Cleanup deletion, Seerr marks the title deleted at its next Media Availability Sync
  • HTTPS on the console is TLS 1.2
  • Tested on firmware 13.60
