BFpilot changelog
v0.4.4 · Aug 11, 2026
v0.4.4 brings the installer, Media tile, archive support and file manager together in one bfpilot.elf.
Changes since v0.4.3
- One all-in-one payload: starts BFpilot on port 5905, installs or refreshes the Media tile, and embeds the private PKG worker.
- Added PS5-native
7F FIHPKG support alongside strict7F CNTvalidation, NPXS rejection, correct/datapath mapping and the FW 11+ AppInst identity. - Made tile installation and reinjection idempotent, with bounded AppInst startup and clean worker shutdown.
- Cleaned up the file toolbar. The selection count stays visible and only actions valid for the current selection are shown.
- Added persistent path and sort state, safer Circle/back navigation, parent-folder reveal and better long-path display.
- Added archive cancellation and partial-output cleanup. Automatic RAR/7z extraction uses four threads, with up to eight available manually.
- Hardened transfers, archives, payload launching, diagnostics and worker concurrency.
- Clean Windows builds are now byte-for-byte reproducible.
Testing
Tested on PS5 FW 11.60. The final build passed the 44/44 feature suite and clean reinjection checks. Also tested with a native FIH Internet Browser PKG, ZIP/RAR/7z extraction and cancellation, and sustained 512 MiB transfers.
The controller-friendly layout and PKG installation implementation were inspired by owendswang/ps5-web-file-manager.
v0.4.3 · Jul 27, 2026
- Create and edit text files, plus upload complete folders.
- Safer copy, move, delete, upload and archive jobs.
- Direct target paths or Copy/Move then Paste Here.
- Faster large transfers and search, with clearer diagnostics.
- Cleaner dark layout with New Text File and Delete always visible.

Payloads (separate — stable)

Use: inject bfpilot.elf for the UI; inject the installer once for the Media shelf (or put a copy at /data/BFpilot/bfpilot-launcher-installer.elf so the main ELF auto-starts it).

v0.3.8-test-clean · Jul 12, 2026
Release Notes — BFpilot v0.3.8 Test Build Clean
Major UX and feature update. Heavily tested on 11.6. Treat this as the primary development build — all features are active and working.
New Features
- Conflict Overwrite and Merge Prompts: Copy and Move now detect naming conflicts before starting the task. Browser confirm dialog shows Overwrite? for files or Merge? for folders. Skip continues to the next item; Confirm retries with overwrite=1.
- Checkbox Multi-Selection: Every row has an individual checkbox for controller-friendly multi-select (no Ctrl/Shift needed). A Select All master checkbox in the header toggles all items at once.
- Interactive Image Viewer: Built-in viewer for .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .webp, .ico, .svg. Supports grab-and-drag panning, mouse-wheel zooming (0.1x to 10x), 90 degree rotation, and a Reset button. Double-click to open, Escape to close.
- Multi-Log Viewer with PS5 Error History Decoder: The log button now shows a dropdown to select: BFpilot log, Archive log, Search crawler log, Boot log, PS5 VSH log, or PS5 Error History. The Error History option crawls /system_data/priv/error/history/, decodes Sony JSON crash records (error codes, Title IDs, firmware version, ticks) and displays them as a readable trace list. Auto-refreshes every 2 seconds.
Improvements
- Permission Bypass: Global umask(0) at process start plus chmod/fchmod 0777 hooks on all created files, folders, and uploads.
- Split ZIP Support: Full support for official (.z01/.zip) and raw (.zip.001/.zip.002) multi-volume split ZIP archives.
- Extract Dialog Default Target: Extract dialog now pre-fills the destination from the active Target panel path.
- Search Unified to Index All: Removed separate Index System mode; single Index All crawler covers all storage roots.

v0.3.5-test10-clean · Jul 5, 2026
Release Notes - BFpilot v0.3.5 Test Build 10 Clean
This release contains structural performance, memory efficiency, and usability optimizations.
heavily tested on 11.6 but didnt have chance to test on other firmwares.
indexing and files search is working mostly but keep in mind a lot of things are encrypted and are not visible so they cant be indexed.
treat this as a stablish release with all features, its fast and its working fine, but i stacked a lot of features now so any feedback would be appreciated, if you want lighter version that only has file manager use 3.0.
Key Features
- Graceful Exit & Re-injection:
- Implemented loopback TCP wakeup to unblock the socket
accept()loop instantly during shutdown. - Added graceful exit flags to terminate background archive daemon and search crawler threads cleanly.
- Web port
5905and loader port9021release instantly on exit, allowing payload re-injection without console reboots. - Fast Multi-Threaded Search Indexing:
- Added a work-stealing concurrent crawler thread pool for filesystem indexing.
- Search matches are resolved in
0mswith dynamic path/filename highlighting. - Integrated Archive Extraction:
- Integrated RAR, 7z (including split
.7z.001volumes), and ZIP extraction directly in the main ELF. - Full support for encrypted/passworded ZIP, RAR, and 7z archives with clean error handling and partial folder cleanups.
- Premium Web UI & Virtual Scrolling:
- Implemented virtual scrolling row recycling to prevent the PS5 Web Browser from running out of memory (OOM) on massive directories (10,000+ files).
- Storage & Network Optimizations:
- Uses FreeBSD
sendfilesyscall for zero-copy file downloads. - Boosted socket send/receive buffers to 2MB and enabled
TCP_NODELAYto eliminate latency. - Bypasses heavy
lstatcalls during crawls to maximize SSD indexing speed.
