XAVATAR v1.1.0 by h5d7r
Makes custom profile avatars from your own pictures, through a web page the console serves on port 4002
Install on your PS4
Payload (.elf): start an ELF loader on the PS4 first, such as elfldr, which listens on port 9021. Then from a computer on the same network, send it the file: nc <PS4 address> 9021 < XAVATAR-installer.elf, or the link, and elfldr downloads it: echo https://store.brewology.com/dl/6154/XAVATAR-installer.elf | nc <PS4 address> 9021.

About XAVATAR
Pick an image from your device or paste a direct link to a PNG, JPG or WebP (up to 8 MiB), crop it square and choose which PS4 user gets it. You can apply it straight away, save it as a .xavatar file in the library at /data/AVATARS, or both. Library files can be uploaded, downloaded, deleted and installed for any user. Sign out and back in to see the new avatar.
Stop service in the top bar closes port 4002 and ends the payload. The page is in 11 languages and follows the console's language by default. The author says it still needs more time on real consoles with different firmware and loaders.
Release notes
v1.1.0 · XAVATAR v1.1.0 · Oct 17, 2026
XAVATAR v1.1.0 adds image-link loading, avatar notifications, and an automatic update check to the self-contained PS4 avatar studio on port 4002.
New in v1.1.0
- Image links: paste a direct
http://orhttps://link to a PNG, JPG or WebP image and select Load. The console downloads the image itself, so the link works even when the image host does not allow cross-origin browser access. Links up to 8 MiB are supported, and animated GIFs are not supported through links. If a link still cannot be loaded, download the image and choose the file instead. - Avatar notifications: creating or installing an avatar now shows the avatar image itself in the system notification. Startup, service-status, and error notifications keep the XAVATAR logo. Each avatar is exported under its own content-hashed file in
/user/data/XAVATAR/, so the notification always reflects the newest avatar instead of a cached earlier one. - Update check: the interface compares its version with the latest GitHub release and shows a banner with a download link when a newer version exists. The check runs automatically once per page load, and an Updates button checks on demand and reports whether you are on the latest version. The check runs from your browser and contacts only the GitHub API.
- Avatar ideas: the image panel links to the PSPrices PS4 avatars collection. Save an image you like to your device, or copy its address, then use Choose image or the image-link field.
Downloads
- XAVATAR.elf — run the studio directly.
- XAVATAR-installer.elf — install
/data/payloads/XAVATAR.elf, back up an existing version, and start the studio. - SHA256SUMS.txt — download checksums.
Send one ELF to a compatible PS4 payload loader, then open http://YOUR-PS4-IP:4002 from a device on the same network. No frontend-file transfer is required. Sign out and back in after installing an avatar to refresh it. Use Stop service to close port 4002.
Notifications include Haider A.H (c) 1.1.0V. System notifications remain in English.
Validation
Native payload and installer builds pass. Local checks cover the new image-link flow (including the console-side fetch endpoint), avatar notification export with per-image filenames, the automatic GitHub update check, the existing library upload/download/deletion, package validation, filename collisions, installed-profile preservation, PS4 language mapping and fallbacks, and all 11 languages on desktop and mobile. Physical PS4 verification is still required for firmware/loader behavior, outbound link fetching over HTTPS on the console, actual notification icon rendering (including avatar images), and visible avatar refresh.
