Stremio (unofficial) v1.03 by porttaco

Sign in to your Stremio account under Settings and your add-ons and library come across. From there you browse, pick a stream and play it with the controller. Text fields use the PS4's on-screen keyboard.

Torrent streams are handled inside the app. Version 1.03 cuts down the number of peers and connections it opens and caps the download speed at roughly 200 Mbps, because the first release could swamp a home router and slow down everything else on the network. The author says a stream with few seeds may take longer to start now.

The developer runs it on a PS4 on firmware 13.52. It's an unofficial port, and the author expects bugs and some media formats that won't play.

This update focuses on network stability while streaming torrent-based content.

Changes

• Added PS4-specific torrent bandwidth limiting
• Reduced maximum connected peers from 80 to 32
• Reduced simultaneous connection attempts from 80 to 12
• Reduced outstanding block requests per peer
• Added an aggregate torrent download cap of approximately 200 Mbps
• Reduced unnecessary network/NAT pressure on home routers
• Helps prevent Stremio playback from slowing down other devices on the network
• Keeps the same working renderer, login, addon, audio, and playback behavior from v1.02

Why this update

The previous build could open a large number of torrent connections and download as aggressively as possible.

On some home networks this could cause high latency, router/NAT overload, and make the rest of the internet connection feel slow even on very fast fiber connections.

v1.03 adds conservative PS4-specific limits while still allowing far more bandwidth than normal 1080p or 4K playback should require.

Installation

1. Download Stremio-PS4-v1.03.pkg
2. Install it over the previous version using your PS4 package installer
3. Launch Stremio normally
4. No account reconfiguration should be required

Tested

Based on the same hardware-working PS4 build used for v1.02.

Tested on a jailbroken PS4 running firmware 13.52.

Notes

If you experience slower torrent startup with very poorly seeded content, this is expected behavior from the reduced connection aggressiveness.

The limits were chosen to improve overall network responsiveness while keeping plenty of bandwidth available for media playback.
