Jellyfin for PS4 changelog
v1.12 · Oct 28, 2026
New
- On Now on Home, as in Jellyfin's web app: what's on Live TV now, with the show's picture, its episode, its times and how far in it is. X plays the channel. Uses the server's guide, or the one downloaded to the PS4; turn it off in Settings › Live TV.
Fixed
- Software Update downloads again. GitHub serves release files from a server the console's own web connection could not reach; the app now falls back to its built-in HTTPS client. The download is still checked against GitHub's published size and SHA-256.
- Live TV no longer crashes after repeated reconnects. Reconnecting to a channel uses far less memory, and happens at most twice a minute.
- The Live TV guide downloads through the same fallback when the console's connection can't reach its address.
1.11 can't download this update by itself (its downloader is the one being fixed): install this package once from the Package Installer, and later updates download in the app.
Package
IV0000-JFPS40000_00-JELLYFINPS400000.pkg — title ID JFPS40000, version 01.12. Installs over 1.11 and keeps your sign-in and settings.
v1.11 · Oct 28, 2026
New
- TV shows play on to the next episode, across seasons. L1 / R1 skip episodes, and the player bar shows what's up next.
- Skip Intros / Skip Credits (Settings › Playback): Off, Button or Auto. Intros are skipped in films and shows; in shows the credits offer Skip to Next Episode. Needs intro / credits markers on the server (Jellyfin 10.10+ with a plugin such as Intro Skipper); without them both settings read "Not on server".
- Player bar, as on the PS3: Left / Right scrub; Up moves to Play / Pause, Volume and Picture, and X uses what's highlighted. The volume is remembered. In Picture, Circle closes it and holding Triangle for 3 seconds resets it.
- Live TV
- L1 / R1 change channel; Up / Down set the volume; no pausing or scrubbing.
- A guide on the PS4 (Settings › Live TV): Update Guide, Auto-Update Guide and Guide Address (an XMLTV address, or the playlist's own
url-tvg). Any user can update it. The bar shows what's on now, the time left and what's next. - Recovers by itself when a channel's picture stops (Pluto ad breaks), with an animated "Reconnecting".
- Quick peek shows the cast, with photos.
- Home Order (Settings › Display): Live TV, Films, Shows, then the rest by default, or your own order.
- Share Sign-in (Settings › Account): lend your account to this console's users who have no sign-in of their own.
- The controller's light bar takes the theme's colour.
Fixed
- Live TV no longer crashes or freezes when a channel reconnects.
- Albums whose tracks are in disc folders (CD1, CD2) no longer show empty.
- Films no longer appear twice when scrolling a large library.
- Themes cycle through every theme once, in order.
- The controller is picked up again after it turns off or disconnects.
- Resume Playback is on by default (switched on once for installs updating from an earlier version).
Package
IV0000-JFPS40000_00-JELLYFINPS400000.pkg — title ID JFPS40000, version 01.11. Installs over 1.10 and keeps your sign-in and settings; Settings › Software Update offers it on 1.10.
v1.10 · Oct 27, 2026
Faster, smoother, and a lot more to do.
Highlights
- Starts in about 4 seconds, and every screen and animation runs smoothly at 60 frames a second (startup used to take around 16 seconds).
- Direct play: H264 films and shows in MP4, MKV and MOV, and most music formats, play as they are and start in 1–3 seconds instead of waiting for the server to convert them.
- Smoother video, and 1080p playback, on by default, with Quality at 20 Mbps (both in Settings › Playback).
- Live TV channels from an M3U tuner play straight from their source: they start in about 2–4 seconds, in their best quality up to 720p, and fall back to the server when they must.
- The PS3 buffering screen, with the ring, the mark and progress.
- L1 while watching sets the picture's size, position and Fit / Fill / Stretch, remembered for every video.
- Music: a Now Playing screen, albums that play through (L1 / R1 skip tracks) and four visualizers — Bars, Aurora, Halo and Scope (Square switches).
- The clock, the date and your profile picture in the header, and "Ends at" times on the details page, the quick peek and the player bar.
- Languages: English, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French and Spanish.
- Settings in four groups — Playback, Display, Account and System — with Software Update and a Debug Logging switch (off by default).
- Artwork shimmers while it loads, a smoother quick peek, and a new app icon.
Package
dist/v1.10/IV0000-JFPS40000_00-JELLYFINPS400000.pkg — title ID JFPS40000, version 01.10. It installs over 1.09 and keeps your sign-in and settings.
Known limitations
- Video is decoded in software and audio is stereo. Settings saved by 1.09 keep their quality; 1080p and 20 Mbps apply to new installs, or can be set in Settings › Playback.
- Audio and subtitle tracks are chosen before playback, not during it; choosing a non-default audio track or subtitles has the server convert the file.
- Live TV has no channel up / down inside the player.
- Software Update downloads the new package; it is installed from the Package Installer, not by the app.
