About PetPal
Pick a pet from seven species, name it, then feed it, play with it, let it rest and talk to it. Hunger, happiness and energy run down in real time, even with the app closed. Look after it every day and a care streak builds, paying out coins each week. Y on the pet screen starts Star Tap, a small minigame for coins.
Passing works through the team's own server on the internet, so nobody else needs to be nearby. Every player you pass becomes a friend and helps your pet towards its next stage, five in all. X checks for new passes. Coins buy food and evolution shards in the shop. It can also link to the PetPal Android app so both share one pet, and there are codes to redeem from the team's site.
Real StreetPass between consoles is being worked on and needs the CIA. Saves go in /3ds/PetPal/, with backups. The GitHub project is archived.

✨ Highlights
- Real StreetPass! The app now creates its own CEC message box on hardware — it shows up in System Settings and cectool. Pets exchange locally over StreetPass (and over the internet via NetPass), on top of the existing teampetpal.com relay. *Install the
.ciafor this — the.3dsxunder HBL can't be granted the system CEC permission, but still passes via the relay.* - 📢 News page. A new Announcements screen (press Y on the main menu) shows Markdown-formatted messages from the PetPal team, fetched from teampetpal.com.
- 🎨 UI polish. Pixel star ratings (friendship tiers + awards), pixel stat bars (happiness / energy / hunger / XP), and evolution-stage emblems on the Pet screen.
🧹 Changes & fixes
- Removed the leftover developer CEC self-test / diagnostic text from the Friends screen.
- Onboarding now reports the pet's name to the account (fixes blank names in the admin panel).
- Added translation-ready string catalogs (English + French) under
Strings/.

kAppVersion→ 0.1.7; save format unchanged (v4, backward-compatible).- New:
